My Journey

First of all, thank you for taking an interest in my story. As a professional storyteller, I have always enjoyed hearing about other people’s stories and how they got to where they are today. Everyone has their own journey, but that’s what makes us all unique.

My experience in sports communication began in 2011 when I was accepted to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University. I spent the next four years majoring in broadcast journalism while working in the media department of SU Athletics and the student-run TV station on campus.

Following graduation in 2015, I was hired for my first on-air job in Abilene, TX, market 165. I worked for the local ABC affiliate for a year before getting a similar job in a larger city, Austin, TX. I reported on a variety of sports, including high school football, University of Texas athletics, AAA baseball, and a few professional teams in Dallas, TX. My experience working in local news prepared me for my next job market and career jump to the regional network level in 2017.

I was given another opportunity to grow in my career and advance to the regional network level, working at Fox Sports Southwest. The role included some of the same coverage, such as high school football (on a bigger stage), but it also allowed me to work the game broadcasts as the sideline reporter for the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers.

Following COVID, the sports broadcast industry underwent significant changes, transforming traditional on-air and production roles. I transitioned to a full-time freelancer in 2021, covering MLB teams such as the Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Kansas City Royals. It was a challenging few years navigating the freelance life and advocating for my professional broadcast career with many people I had never met. It tested my mental toughness with rejection, it forced me to think about the big picture and my “why,” but it also pushed me to find an identity outside of my job. That has led me to pursue some personal passions today!

However, in July 2024, I received a call from the NHL’s newest organization, the Utah Hockey Club (now known as the Utah Mammoth), regarding an open Rinkside Reporter position. Three months later, I packed up my life in Dallas and moved into a brand new adventure, both personally and professionally.

My first year back in the NHL was incredible, and I still report for MLB in the offseason. However, as an active sports broadcaster, I am always looking for ways to share my knowledge and experience with those who wish to learn. Whether that’s how to be an effective communicator or sports broadcaster, or even topics that I care deeply about, such as wellness and travel. With my career experience and passion for people, I strive to provide real-world knowledge that translates into personal success for all future connections or clients.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned (so far) is that there are no limits on what you can do in this life, as long as you have the passion and unapologetic determination to achieve it. I’m still a work in progress, but I hope my story resonates and has the possibility to inspire whatever your next chapter might be!
